Blue Pit Bull Pictures: Photos of My APBT
85Vicious Pit Bull
American Pit Bull Terriers are the most vicious breed out there, right? I mean they're a danger to both children and men, alike. Ignore the statistics, they're not the least likely breed to bite; they're vicious and a hazard to any home...
Well, now let's get to the serious stuff...
Although, the "pit bull" is the is statistically, the cause of most dog attacks, the American Pit Bull Terrier, is truly the least likely to bite a human. When you get to the resources behind the numbers, you realize that the majority of the dogs that attack are either abused, starved, badly bred, or some other blend of characteristics that lead up to an attack. But, you usually don't hear about that...

Here's my plug for APBT's, well sort of...
Name: Jade
Age: approximately 3 years
Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier mix
Color: White with red markings. Red nose.
Notes: Housetrained. Knows basic commands and will act pretty (rolls on her back and wiggles). Gets along with other dogs of all sizes and ages. Is mostly good with cats; she acts as though she wants to chase them, but with a simple "no," she stops. She currently, sleeps in the bed and is a cuddle bug.
Jade and her 7 month old puppy were surrendered after her owner committed suicide. The woman's boyfriend was in jail for a driving without a license charge. And, the woman's children did not want the dogs, so both were surrendered. They are currently being fostered.

If it's true that people look like their dogs then you are Beautiful, (or Handsome if you’re a Fella), just like Mia. She looks to have a lovely temperament and to be in very good health, again a reflexion on you.
As a new PBT owner I am enjoying your articles, learning from them and the comments. Many thanks.
PS. I’m so glad Mia's ears are not docked.
All dogs will bite if provoked, it is their defense mechanism. It is up to us as humans to learn what our furry friends are trying to tell us. I have had a pit bull, she chased shadows of butterflies when it got to hot in the afternoon for the wild birds to play with her. She chased there shadows as well. She had been abused when she came to me, left in a cage to soil herself, then punished for doing so. With a little love from us, she had no lasting effects. She was a licker, and thought it was great fun to 'pin' you to the floor and lick you. If pit bulls have a bad rap, it's because of the humans who have allowed this to happen. No if's ands or butt's about it.
"Least likely to bite," but somehow I'd rather be bitten by a Yorkie or a pug. Conveniently ignore the fatality and face-ripped-off statistics. Your heart is full of murder.
There is no such thing as a purebred blue pit bull. Blue would only come from being bred with a staffordshire terrier. Just for all of you who are paying a bunch of money for a supposedly "pure bred pitbull" puppy that's blue.
Loved this article. Your pictures were adorable and the information is great. We adopted a little guy in April and he looks a lot like your Mia. His companion, our 10 yo Cookie, loves to play with him too. We've shared so much joy in the past few months watching him grow and learn. Thanks for sharing your experiences with Pit Bulls.
hey gorgeous dog! i have 2 pit bulls myself they are great with my daughter, in fact they are her best friends we enjoy them they are a lot of fun and they dont deserve the name that they have it is just a bunch of bs.
have have 3 pittys an they reach my kids when cryin b4 i do
Nice looking dog! I have a 5 month old blue pit, named Blue, lol. He's great, I've been training him since he was 8 weeks old, he heels, sits, comes, lays down, all the normal stuff. He is fantastic with my 4 year old son and his little friends. One of the best dogs I have ever owned.
You are the owner and you make the dog what it is no matter the breed! I was scared at first till I purchased a blue pure bread puppy and she is the best thing for my family we've trained her to protect and to love and thats what she does. IF YOUR DOG IS MEAN AND HAS AN UGLY ATTITUDE IT MUST HAVE LEARNED IT FROM YOU!!!!!!
Great info Whitney !! Nice to see more responsible pit bull owners educating others about the truth behind the breed.
I have a 7month old blue pit bull pup named C-lo. He weighs 65lbs. right now and his head is 20".I think that he is HUGE for his age.We only feed him ULTRA puppy food and give him little "scooby" snacks here and there.I also have 2 adult golden retrievers and they all seem to get along quite well.My boy golden will be 9years old this month and my girl just turned 6.Do you think they will continue to get along as C-lo gets older?I am so worried that he may just flip out one day and kill one of my goldens. He doesn't show any signs of aggression and seems to respect the older dogs quite well.I also have a 15 year old girl that C-lo seems to be very attached to and DOES NOT like it when she gets in trouble and I try to discipline her.He jumps in front of me and looks at me as to say "hey, leave my little girl alone!"what can I do to be sure we never have any probems with aggression from him? C-lo's dad is veerrry mean and he was my neighbors dog(very well taken care of and not mean at all with their family, only other people). How can I (the female) assert myself as being in control and gain his trust so that he will always listen and respect me? AND as he grows up will the smartass puppy behaviors (I>E> I tell him to come inside and he runs like as if to truck me and takes off and then comes back and then listens and comes back in the house)Whats the best and least harsh way to train my pit? I really love him sooo much and he has become an endeared member of our family. Thanks! Cyndi from Miami, FL
Hey i just got a baby blue, hes 2 months old and his name is Berkeley. he is my life and i have a question for anyone who wold know. what is the correct way to train him not to bite, its not getting out of control and i know he is a youngin but im just curios.
I cannot believe how much your MIA looks like my Bella!! Bella's almost two now, I don't know her origins bc we adopted her from the SPCA, and I think bc of her former mistreatment her growth was stunted - she weighs 45 pounds. Other than that they are so similar that all I can say is WOW! Same color, same white markings in pretty much the same spots - right down to the white triangle on the back of the neck! I have a few pics on zootoo: http://www.zootoo.com/profile/ryanmichelle2
Thanks for spreading the good word about this hugely, grossly misunderstood, slandered and libeled breed! Each dog is a unique being unto itself and no one breed deserves to be cast in the kind of light that pits have. With time and effort, responsible owners can change public perceptions - bc that's really where the problem is - with the owners. Pits are great just being themselves.
Also, in looking over above comments, I see someone was told by their shelter their new pup was a wiemereiner mix - same thing our shelter tried saying, but we knew better. I think it's bc some homeowner insurance groups refuse to cover if you have a pit...
How cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Precious!!!!!!!!!!
your pit seems so much more filled out than mine at 6 months. Luna is right at 6 months and only weighs about 50 lbs. everyone says she is huge (vet, techs, breeders etc) but i feel that she has almost quit growing and eating. she has gotten super finicky and i am having to leave her food down all day just so she may eat an entire bowl. she stays inside so the heat of the summer should not mess with her apetite as it does outside dogs. any tips on exercise and growth and apetite?
That's interesting about lab bites... would've never guessed that
"That is more accurate, although, it's not impossible to have them release if you have proper control over the dog, training-wise."
I completely agree. That's why I trained our dog to let go. Not saying that they can't...
I would like to say that according to a recent study by the US Humane Society, Laborador Retrievers are considered more dangerous that APBTs. In the last 10 years, Labs have bitten more humans than APBTs. This study did take the seriousness of the bite into account. If you want more info, you can email me at webmaster@bluestunnakennels.com
OK, they may not have lock jaws, but once they've made up their minds to hold on to something, it's not usually until THEY decide to let go or are MADE to let go that they do.
I wish I would have taken that many pics of our dog when he was a puppy :( Beautiful dog, by the way. Pits are a great breed, along with many others. You've made me want to create a hub about my Red Nose pit bull Stafforshire Terrier mix.
I've had him since he was 2 1/2 weeks old and he's very socialized and around 2 young children. This breed is very loving, loyal, and protective and yes, just like any other dog breed, if they feel they or thier loved ones are in danger, they may bite. But any breed dog would, depending on tempermant and situation. This breed gets a lot more attention because of it's abuse for sport and it's lock jaw. Yes, I agree fought or abused dogs increase the odds, but I also believe the reaction by the human could create, decrease, or increase a situation.
I've had 2 other breeds, Boston Terrier (who I recently had to put down) and Dachshund. Fuego doesn't get along with the Dachshund (because he's fiesty), but overall, he was great with Qwincey (Boston).
I do support adopting, but also feel if you are going to introduce this breed to your family you either do adopt a puppy or make sure you learn the background on the dog, and if possible, sometimes someone from the Humane Society may be willing to also test his/her demeanor.
I have a question. My husband and I recently adopted a 5 mth old Weimaraner/lab mix puppy from a rescue shelter in Evansville, IN. We just found out that the pup is NOT a Weimaraner/lab...but a blue pitbull mix. We were a little shocked. We are not totally against pitbulls, however we do have 2 small children (3 and 5). My question is, should we be concerned with the animal and our kids?? We do not know anything about blue pitbulls and would appreciate any info on the breed!! She is timid, but not aggressive. Are there any specific warning signs we should be on the lookout for??
i love your pit! i have a male pit (red nose) that looks the same as yours. his name is ralfie! I love him and i hate how people are so eager to bash the pit breed. Pits can be the sweet or mean its just how they are raised.
Pittys are so cute - in a crazy child killing way :-) Come rob my backyard - I dare you!
Great Hub! Youir Pitty is a super cutie pie! APBTs are great dogs. Keep spreading the word!
We own three pit bulls. We also have three children in the house. Its not the breed that has given these beautiful animals a bad rep. Its the people who raise them. Any animal will be mean no matter what the breed is if you raise them to be that way. Dogs are mean because people raise them to be. let me tell you all, My three dogs are wonderful. They are very loving and very eager to please. They play with my kids all the time they even put there hands and arms in there mouth and they are so gentle about it there isn't even a scratch or a red mark to be found. Some people are just ignorant to the breed. If only people could see the potential of these animals. How amazed they would be.
MIA is too CUTE! I'm getting a blue APBT female in a couple of days and after watching MIA I just can't wait to get her. Her name is going to be Hannah. She looks a lot like MIA. I'm constantly defending their breed to my family and friends. Bad breeding and bad people have really gave the APBT a bad rep. I worked at a Veterinary clinic for 6 yrs and not one Pit EVER tried to bite us. Some were aggressive towards the other animals especially the cats, but NONE towards us. Thanks so much for the video and pics! They're great!
Man, I want a dog sooooo bad. Right now I can't get one, but I'm thinking in the next year I'll get one. I'm thinking of getting a Pit Bull Terrier now because of your article. I love terriers in general.
Hi Whitney,
MIA is a beauty! She looks so much like (one of) the pit pups my family had when I was growing up. They are such a wonderful breed when properly raised and loved. Great Hub!
My God, your house is a zoo!! :)) Great pics!
Love the pictures of your dogs. Mia ha a gorgeous face!
I've been told that about the opposite sexes as well, but when I had two they were both the same sex and got along great. I've only got one now and she does tend to get along with opposite sex dogs better, but it isn't 100%. It just really depends on the dog, I think.
Your hub is so cute! I enjoyed seeing all of the pictures. Dogs are so awesome...I think anybody that doesn't like them is just not right!
Jill (mads78)
Though I don't support dog breeding on principle, as there are so many loving dogs that need adopting, I must say I prefer it to the puppy-mill brand of dog "production." I have two mutts that I adopted full-grown (even those who lean towards adoption often prefer pups, leaving the dogs in their young adulthood or older years neglected), and I adore them both.
The only song that immediately came to mind was "Love Is In The Air" by Tom Jones....guess it's my twisted sense of humor..hahaha
I'm usually more of a rock girl myself but now I have Tom Jones stuck in my head!
Very cute dog. I used to have a fawn with white markings, but sadly he was stolen over a year ago. I still miss him. I'd love to bring home another Pit, but currently, I've got too much going on to bring in a dog. :-(
Hi Whitney, Great Hub and Pics. The bad name they get is a typical result of generalizing statistics without looking at the facts behind the figures.
About editing try Animoto.com. Not sure if they use video or just pics but they do have a lot of music to choose from and their editing is great.
I think the owners can make any dog mean. Its a shame this breed is used for fighting. When I see them on tv being removed from a bad situation , it is really heartbreaking.
Thanks for seeing them in a different light.
I love the rat pics and video...SO cute! My Cairn Terrier would have swallowed all 3 rats in a matter of seconds. Her prey drive towards rodents is just too strong.
Your pup is a sweetie. BTW my cousin breeds Staffies and they are 'nanny' dogs. He has 4 young boys. Two are twins with a penchant for getting into trouble. Isabella (their dog) allows the kids to take her pups away from her and cart them around the house. She adores children and is one of the most placid dogs I've ever seen. They now have one of her adult pups with them as well. So 2 Staffies and 4 kids and not an issue between them. :)
Have to agree Whitney,I too have a American Pit Bull. She is absolutely beautiful, great around children.Much of the bad rap comes from the owners. If you are not capable of properly training, loving, caring for them they are great pets.Oh and yes she would bite only if someone attacks my wife or I,or if I in my special way tell her to.
She comes from a very good bloodline Sire was The Brick Farm's Brick Built and Dam was The Brick Farm's Puddin---out of The Brick Farm's Blue---
She is such a good dog if a child starts towards the road she will block them and lead them back---never has she tried to bite anyone.
Great pictures!
regards Zsuzsy
I love these dogs! Its a shame when they get a bad rap either from poor owners or poor training (or both). I am outraged that some municipalities actually ban them.
Loved your hub, the photos and info! Packed with great info! Thanks for sharing.
So cute! I agree that pits can get a bad rap. We had a Staffordshire Bull Terrier years ago (the English breed - not Am Staff). We were told by his breeders that they are called "nanny dogs" in the UK. Hershey was always very gentle with our kids. Now, our dog Garrett (photo with me), we adopted from the Humane Society, and they think he has some pit bull in him. But a super, super dog. Love the hub and photos.
